- A Fake 15-second intro appeared online, later people pointed out the clip was from the “Silent Hill” Soundtrack.

The whole purpose of this article is to show those differences to the fans. This information took a large amount of time to compile, so please do not use this on another website without asking permission first. So now without further adieu, on to the the international releases.

Description: The outer case is a Semi-Gloss Cover. The Liner notes are glued to the digipack case, and only the pictures are on glossy paper, the rest are matte.

Japan Limited Edition CD + DVD

Description: This consumer edition has a Glossy Cover instead of the Matte/Semi-Gloss Cover. It includes a Silver OBI Strip and a Lyric Translation Sheet. The CD also includes the Bonus Acoustic Track of “Call Me When You’re Sober.” The DVD only contains four video clips; the “Call Me When You’re Sober” music video, the making of the video, And two Acoustic Performances (Call Me When You’re Sober and Lithium). The Liner notes are loose, but they provide a an area in between the front cover and inside cover for slide in storage.

On the Inner Ring of both the CD & DVD the words “SAMPLE – LOANED” are embossed in Red. The CD also includes the Bonus Acoustic Track of “Call Me When You’re Sober.” The DVD only contains two sample tracks; the “Call Me When You’re Sober” music video along with the “Making of the video” clip.

Japan Regular Edition Sample

Description: This promo edition has a Glossy Cover with the Upper right side of the Vine Logo in white (instead of being faded into the background). Description: This cd has a Glossy Cover and a promo sticker on the outer case in Korean. It also includes a set of Stickers, a Band Bio in Korean, and 2 Pins. The Liner notes are printed on glossy paper and are glued to the digipack case.

Hong Kong Release

Description: This cd has a softer Matte Cover, But Came in a Special Package in a bag with a hoodie. The Liner notes are printed on glossy paper and are glued to the digipack case.

Malaysian Release

Description: The outer case has a Semi-gloss Cover with an OBI strip on the outside glued to the spine. The Liner notes are on a glossy paper and are loose instead of being glued to the digipack case. The CD came with a Metal Evanescence Vine Logo Pendant along with a Proof Of Purchase slip and an advertisement for ringtones. One thing that stands out is that the inner sun logo on the cd is an iridescent blue that reflects back, this is not on any other edition that I have come across.

Chinese Release

Description: The outer case has a Semi-gloss Cover with an OBI strip on the outside glued to the spine. The Liner notes are printed on matte paper (but the pictures are printed on Glossy paper like the US Edition) and are loose instead of being glued to the digipack case. The CD itself also has some Chinese Mandarin writing on the lower center section of the cd where it lists the Label information.

Taiwan Regular Edition

Description: This regular consumer edition has the semi-gloss cover along with a gold OBI strip written in Taiwanese Mandarin. The Liner notes are printed on matte paper (but the pictures are printed on Glossy paper like the US Edition) and are glued to the digipack case.

Taiwan LTD Edition CD + Promo DVD

DVD Catalog Number: -none-
Description: This Limited Edition comes with a jewel case wrapped in a glossy card sleeve cover. The card sleeve Cover has the Evanescence name & Track Listings written in Taiwanese Mandarin along with English. On both the card sleeve cover and the cd line notes the upper right side of the Vine Logo in white (instead of being faded into the background) — this seems to represent Special or Promo Editions of the CD. The CD case itself has the Sony/BMG logo embossed on the front and back. Also Included is a Black & White Band Poster with a Band Bio on the opposite side along with a small insert with what I beleive to be codes to text message to receive the songs as ringtones (I can’t read Mandarin, so this is an educated guess!) This also came with a Limited Edition Region Free DVD that Contained All the Evanescence Videos (Call Me When You’re Sober, Bring Me To Life, Going Under, My Immortal, and Everybody’s Fool).

There are two differences between the album art as well. The back of the liner notes has the Evanescence symbol revised vine logo with a Moth above it (image). The tray insert is also different from other editions. It contains the sun logo along with the scarab beetle (image).

Malaysia Cassette Tape

Description: The cassette is in a rounded case and it has the Sony/BMG logo embossed on the back. The artwork is similar to the album, but includes another photo shoot picture and a special “Proof of Purchase” tag.

Promo Indonesia Cassette Tape

Description: The cassette is in a cornered case and on the back it has “PT. Sony BMG Entertainment Indonesia” embossed. I beleive it’s a Promo because of the Vine Logo Difference (Remember the White in the upper right corner) but I could be wrong.

I attempted several auctions on eBay and ended up wasting money while feeling lied to and ashamed of my mistake; leaving behind a stack of fake Origin’s and EP’s. I made stupid mistakes such as not educating myself with the correct track listing and times, and what the true covers look like. While looking to collect those rare items I lost sight of the fact that there were limited copies, extremely limited, of the pre-fallen materials. I came to hard the realization around this time last year that it would be nearly impossible to find an authentic copy of the pre-fallen materials. Origin, The Sound Asleep/Whisper Ep, and the Evanescence EP are all being kept within the tight grasps of their early fans. I still to this day find it amazing that I could acquire a copy of the “Imaginary” single and both versions of the “Missing” singles — but had yet to find a real, true copy of Origin.

The amount of Origin CD’s and the recent rash of fake Evanescence and Sound-Asleep EP’s has become insane. Some going for upwards of $500-1,200! So please, please stop feeding the pirates! Learn from my mistakes, and the mistakes of many others. Do what the band wanted you to do all along, and download the High Quality tracks from the Evanescence Reference. You will make out victorious in the long run, and a lot richer!

Preparation:
Make sure you verse yourself well with the Discography section of the Evanescence Reference (link). This will help you determine how many legitimate singles are out there. You can find everything from Commercial, Radio, and Promo singles on there. The Reference gives you not only the various versions of the singles, but track listings, information as to whether it’s in print or not, and scans of the actual products. This is a great way to set up your own personal checklist before beginning your quest!

Finding the Essentials:
To start off your collection I’d suggest you begin searching for these basic singles:

• Bring Me To Life
• Going Under
• My Immortal
• Everybody’s Fool
• Call Me When Your Sober (Basic & Maxi)
• Lithium (Basic & Maxi)
• Sweet Sacrifice (Basic & Maxi)

This will give you a good base and be a semi-inexpensive start to your singles collection.

As for my personal preference, eBay is the best place to start off. You’d be amazed the deals you can get! Most of the basic singles are sold between $5-25. If you live outside of the USA, your Record Stores are more likely to carry Singles, so support your local businesses by purchasing them there!

You may think that Amazon.com would be a good site, but in reality it usually is not. Most older singles on there are horribly overpriced. The pre-orders for new singles are usually bargains, but if you have to purchase a single through Amazon Marketplace prepare to pay a pretty penny!

Finding Semi-Rarities:
Items like the 3″ Pock-It Singles, Various International singles, and Promo/Radio singles can be tricky at times to locate. Keeping your eyes out on eBay, along with browsing UK Single sites like Vinyl Tap Records, Net Sounds, Music Stack, and EIL.com will aid you in your search. Adding such items to your collection can be costly at times, but if your a hardcore collector like I am just learn to budget out your fun money!

The Prized Singles:
Finding the “Missing” and “Imaginary” singles will be the most difficult, and the most expensive to add to your collection. There are two Versions of the “Missing” singles (European & Brazil) and they usually go for around $50-$80 if you snag them in time. eBay is where you will be most likely to find them, but only on rare occasions.

As for “Imaginary” — you are more likely to get struck by lightening than to find one of the rumored 15-50 Imaginary Singles. The single was a Spain Only Radio Promo, and is the hardest of all the singles to find. Most are sold on eBay between $200-$500.

Tricks & Tips:

• Save your money before beginning your single collection & set your self a budget so you don’t spend more than you can! Single collecting can become expensive, so just prepare yourself!
• Create a “Worldwide” saved search on eBay! Creating a basic search for worldwide Evanescence items can make your eBay browsing much quicker!
• Make an Offer. If you happen to see a very rare single up for auction and nobody else is bidding on it, message the seller and make them an offer. If you are lucky they will end the auction early and sell the item to you! (*This is how I acquired my Imaginary Single!) 
• Froogle is your friend. Sometimes the Google products search engine can help you find what your looking for. Make sure to check that site out on occasion! (link)
• Make Friends with Other Single Collectors! They sometimes have recommended sellers they deal with frequently and they may know where to find what your missing! Sometimes, they may even offer to keep their eyes peeled for you! Besides, you need someone else to talk about your vast single collection with!
• PayPal. Use PayPal as often as possible when purchasing any singles online. PayPal does offer some buyer protection, but be sure to read the fine print!
