Since I’ve updated the website I’ve gotten a lot of e-mails in my inbox. While I love to help fans out, sometimes I can’t always fill their requests. I recently received a several requests from newer ev fans for several “rare songs.” Unfortunatly, Most of these songs haven’t seen much of the light of day, and we’ll be lucky if even one of them finally releases! There are five in particular that I want to bring up and sort of “clear the record” on.
Catherine
- This song was only performed Live once or twice, it may or may not have been recorded (Amy can’t remember)
- This song was written by Ben & Amy on an Acoustic guitar in a movie parking lot.
- Contrary to Rumor, Catherine is not About Amy’s Departed Sister.
Faixa Five (source link)
- Nothing is known about this song except that writing credits were given to Ben, Amy and David
Spanish (source link)
-This was a live performed instrumental titled “Spanish” because it had a spanish feel to the guitar line.
Together Again (Source Link)
- This is the “Narnia Song”
- According to Amy it’s still unfinished and may be released someday
If You Don’t Mind (Source Link)
- Intended for the Open door, but it missed the cut
- A Fake 15-second intro appeared online, later people pointed out the clip was from the “Silent Hill” Soundtrack.

Since the “The Open Door” has released I have set out together up any international versions of the album to compare and collect along with my singles. It’s amazing the subtle, and not so subtle differences in the various releases, along with the different marketing goodies they give out. Besides CD/DVD editions I have also come across two cassette tapes of “The Open Door”. Bet you didn’t think tapes were produced anymore!
The whole purpose of this article is to show those differences to the fans. This information took a large amount of time to compile, so please do not use this on another website without asking permission first. So now without further adieu, on to the the international releases.

I have a day off of work and what do I do? Instead of attending to my housework I decide to spend all day working on this website! First off the “Downloads” section has a brand new layout, new files, and a better organizational structure along with a FAQ page. I also made updated to Angry Cat, our evil kitty who scares off bandwidth stealer’s. The other very noticeable update lies in the reorganization of the Image Gallery. I am extremely anal retentive and must have everything organized — so take a look around at the new structure, along with the new files! I hope you all enjoy they hard work!

So I have suspected for a while that my copy of Origin was fake since a friend told me mine looked too yellow in the back cover and that it looked slightly washed out. But it had the correct tracks in an acceptable audio quality and it contained the Hidden track (Track “0″). So what was the truth? A friend of mine finally helped to set the record straight. The Comparison between a Fake Cover and a Real cover is absolutely amazing. The Color Brilliance, the outlining of the text, it all puts even the “good fakes” like I own to shame! Here is a comparison:

I attempted several auctions on eBay and ended up wasting money while feeling lied to and ashamed of my mistake; leaving behind a stack of fake Origin’s and EP’s. I made stupid mistakes such as not educating myself with the correct track listing and times, and what the true covers look like. While looking to collect those rare items I lost sight of the fact that there were limited copies, extremely limited, of the pre-fallen materials. I came to hard the realization around this time last year that it would be nearly impossible to find an authentic copy of the pre-fallen materials. Origin, The Sound Asleep/Whisper Ep, and the Evanescence EP are all being kept within the tight grasps of their early fans. I still to this day find it amazing that I could acquire a copy of the “Imaginary” single and both versions of the “Missing” singles — but had yet to find a real, true copy of Origin.
The amount of Origin CD’s and the recent rash of fake Evanescence and Sound-Asleep EP’s has become insane. Some going for upwards of $500-1,200! So please, please stop feeding the pirates! Learn from my mistakes, and the mistakes of many others. Do what the band wanted you to do all along, and download the High Quality tracks from the Evanescence Reference. You will make out victorious in the long run, and a lot richer!
*Thank you Sam for setting the record straight for me! It’s better to know the truth then to live with a lie <3

I’ve been doing some work on Sound-Asleep, mostly pertaining to a new website layout. I want to change and make this blog on the first page, then link to each section so that the news, updates, articles etc actually get noticed. It’s going to take some time, but it will be worth it in the end. My current “content” related project is updating the discography section. I really want to add more details, thumbnails to the scans gallery, more information on various releases, and so on. Again this will take some time, but It will be worth it.
Completed updates include:
- New media at the downloads section (”People are Strange” cover & Good Enough Radio Mix)
- New Scans in the Gallery
- Goodies Moved to Gallery, soon the link will go directly to the gallery instead of a separate page to help ease on maintenance.

Most of you may know me from EVclub as “I Say Meow”, but my nickname there has become “The Queen of Singles.” I have a total of 59 various Evanescence Commercial, Promo, and Radio Singles in my collection at this point in time. The question I am asked most frequently is “How to I even start my own collection” — so this small article will give you all my knowledge on collecting.
This Article is quite long, so please click the “Read More” link to read it!

Stuff you may not notice:
Due to a lot of direct linking to my audio files, I had to set up a script to stop that. Now when someone tries to access the mp3’s from another site, they instead get Angry cat! *snickers* I need to find a horrid MIDI file to play in the background as well!
